The client identified a gap in the market for rental apartments offering luxury, open plan living in the town of Basingstoke, Hampshire. They needed a turnkey construction contractor who could fulfil the entire works package from strip-out to fit-out – whilst delivering an exceptional quality of finish, down to the finest detail.

The DRG solution

As principal contractor, DRG Solutions worked closely with the client to deliver the brief, creating three blocks of one and two-bedroom apartments, including duplex apartments, ranging from around 470–720 sq. ft. each.

The project began with a full strip-out, with existing roofs fully removed across all three blocks. New roofs were added across all blocks, and façade works undertaken to elevate the visual appeal of the exterior. Inside, DRG constructed partition walls to create each new apartment, ensuring each was supplied with electrics, plumbing and connectivity.

Apartments were finished to a high specification, providing a full turnkey solution for the client, with each apartment block handed over ‘ready to rent’. Kitchens were fully installed with integrated appliances, flooring laid, and bathrooms were fitted-out and finished with modern built-in cisterns and thermostatic showers, plus LED mirrors featuring shaver socket and demister function.

DRG Solutions also constructed parking areas, cycle stores and an on-site manager’s office, along with landscaping the grounds – adding external lighting, block paving for emergency vehicle access, and a substation. To ensure the client could begin generating profit as soon as possible, the first two blocks were completed first, and therefore able to rent out, whilst the third block was being finalised. The entire project was completed within two years, which the client was delighted with.

The result

Buildings A and B were completed in 2021, with building C to follow in early 2022. Ashwood Park in Basingstoke now offers a range of beautifully crafted boutique apartments, with high-quality appliances and fine detailing. In line with our carbon offsetting partnership with Ecologi, the project led to the planting of 133 trees.
